Traveling has become easy for most of us. So easy in fact that we may forget the health risk associated with traveling internationally. These are risks that can be minimized if proper precautions are taken. Elderly travelers, infants and young children require extra attention when traveling. The following information & links is provided to help guide you so you can properly prepare before your next business trip or vacation.

Diseases are transmitted in a verity of ways.

  • Food & Water: The most common cause of illness amongst travelers cause diseases such as: Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Polio, Cholera, and Travelers Diarrhea.
  • Animals: Avoid contact with local animals to minimize the risk of Rabies and toxic reactions to poisonous bites (Snakes, Scorpions, Spiders etc.).
  • Insects: The Mosquito is a threat that can cause the following dieses: Yellow Fever, malaria, Japanese Encephalitis, Dengue Fever.
  • Soil (Fresh Water): Contaminated soil can enter cuts and sores in the skin causing tetanus. There are also parasites capable of entering unbroken skin causing parasitic infections. Appropriate footwear will help minimize the risk.
  • Person to Person: Along with the common cold, many diseases can be transmitted from person to person and through blood transfusions, including: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria, Meningococcus, Tuberculosis, Influenza, Hepatitis B, and AIDS.
