Calling all Quitters!!

Did you know that if you are pregnant and a smoker (or quit to become pregnant), that you and a family member can both earn FREE diapers to quit smoking through a program at the Health Department?  Well, you can.  You will be given a $50 diaper gift card for your second and third trimester and then for 3 months after your baby arrives.  You can receive up to $600 in diaper cards just for doing something that is the best gift you can give your new baby. It can reduce the risk of complications in pregnancy and birth. You are more likely to have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby.  You will reduce the risk of stillbirth. Your baby is less likely to be born too early and must face the breathing, feeding and health problems that often go with being premature. Got a voice to make a change?  We are looking to find a few folks who would like to see second-hand smoke, a thing of the past in Poplar Bluff.  Building Communities for Better Health in cooperation with Butler County Health Educator Mary Tolliver is working to make workplaces safer.  We need some volunteers to attend meetings and lend your voice to help us.  If you are interested, contact Mary Tolliver at 573-785-2825 or email mary.tolliver@lpha.mo.gov.
