Summary: The competent professional authority (CPA) is responsible for obtaining participant data needed for the certification process according to state policies and procedures. The CPA prescribes supplemental foods and formulas and provides nutrition and breastfeeding education.
Requirements: A four-year degree in social work, sociology, counseling, psychology, public health, health education, health science, biomedical science or education from an accredited college or university. OR A four-year degree in any field with a minor in nutrition from an accredited college or university OR Registered nurse (RN), physician or physician’s assistant, dietetic technician, registered (DTR) with an associate degree OR Licensed practical nurse (LPN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Summary: Provides information, support, and encouragement to WIC prenatal and breastfeeding women, assisting them in their breastfeeding experience.
Requirements: Completed high school or equivalent; breastfeeding experience
